Did you know: You can get your inspection up to 90 days before the expiration date on your registration and still be good for the next two years. If you stop in any earlier, you may only be eligible for one year.

You should receive a renewal notice from the DMV when it's time for your inspection. If you think you're due for a check but have not received your notice, you can visit www.dmvnow.com to see the status of your vehicle.
New Residents & Exemptions
If you are a new resident, welcome! You may be exempt from an emissions inspection for a time depending on which state you're coming from and whether you have a valid emissions certificate from that state within the last 12 months. There are a few other exemptions, but most motorists in Northern Virginia will need an emissions check.
If you failed your initial inspection, you're eligible for one free retest at the original station within 14 calendar days of the inspection. As an auto repair shop, we're also able to provide exhaust system repair services to help you get your emissions in check so you can pass the retest.
